Sheep? Poodle? Lama? ... Alpaca! As seen at the Egglisgraben, on our way from Basel to Liestal. Unfriendly lot there at the restaurant, so we carried on in fair but humid weather and took another of our many breaks at Bad Schauenburg (which was off the original ViaGottardo route), a place that was beautiful and rather "posh", but absolutely welcoming. There we had the Swiss pendant to the "latte macchiato":

Take a close look at the plate on the middle of the table. Two tiny, incredibly tasty madeleines with raspberries on top. Served as a treat by a young man with a good sense of humour and just as good manners. Well it WAS a posh place, but it seemed they didn't mind that we were two sweaty walkers at all... Very pleasant experience at a very pleasant place:

From Bad Schauenburg we walked to Liestal, the end of today's march, which was more like a six-hour stroll through German-like fields and forests:

with a LOT of breaks. A very, very nice day in the company of Roberta, who wouldn't allow me to pay not even an ice cream. Karl picked us up at the Liestal railway station and we had a good meal on their huge balcony at the "Hotel Roberta & Karl". The balance of today: 20 km, 6 hours 19 min. (inclusive 1000 breaks), up 480m, down 400m, our highest point was 577m.
