Ah. No Spadolazzo and Suretta today. It wasn't actually raining when we were woken up by a hoard of noisy and extremely unorganized Italians, but it stormed and the fog was so thick that it didn't make any sense whatsoever to follow our plan. This is a change-plans-everyday kind of five months. I am relatively relaxed because I still have a lot of time and hopefully a lot of walking before me, but I feel sorry for Maurizio. This was the view this morning (that's a dog outside):

Speaking of windows. Many know about the famous towel war between Germans and the English. But few are aware of the fierce window war that goes on in the mountains between Germans and Italians. Germans want it open, Italians want it closed. This war has been fought also between me and Maurizio and I can say - to say it with George Bush's words - I have prevailed. And Maurizio is actually changing opinion. At least after last night. Risking suffocation we had to cease to the Italians, who were just too many to fight. We had the support of three Germans, but it just wasn't enough. Beware of Italians in the mountains.

And this is to give you a slight idea of the inside of Bertacchi hut, loads of people about. Also because it was to be officially to be inaugurated today, but the celebration was called off, only a few of the local alpine club came up to eat and drink, the weather was just too bad.
