Lancaster Castle. Lots of so-called witches and other presumed or true criminals were locked up and hanged here a long time ago. The castle was still a prison until two years ago. And the inner yard opened to the public for the first time only two months ago. We arrived at Lancaster from Ravenglass on the train. Our angel Letty took us to Ravenglass in her car saving us the expensive fare on the Ratty. We decided to stay at Lancaster, which is smaller and more relaxed than Manchester and were told of the "Travel Lodge" at the tourist information. It reminded me of a YMCA, only nicer, bigger and cheaper. We had a huge ensuite room, everything was new and clean and really cheap. Never mind it not being a cosy B&B and it feeling a bit like being in a sci-fi film.
