This is rifugio Troncea in Val Troncea. It is a big and new rifugio built only in 2007. I am the only guest here and I arrived early because I decided to take the short and direct way, not knowing how many hours it would take to go via mount Albergan, most likely more than eight hours. Considering my knees I took the bus from Usseaux to Bivio Val Troncea at Traverses and then walked. I had to walk on the road to Plan, Pattemouche (skiing resort) and then to Ponte das Itreit, where a dirt road started to Baracot where I considered to take the long way over mount Morefreddo, but that would of taken at least six hours and it was already twelve. There were only two buses this morning, one at six and one at ten. Claudio, the owner of Pzit Rei, was so kind as to give me a lift to the bus stop on the main road thus saving me a two kilometres' walk down hill on tarmac. That is a negativ aspect of long distance trails like GTA that you often have to walk on roads and bigger towns. They had also predicted thunderstorms for this afternoon, but nothing has happened yet. The weather may be bad tomorrow though putting in doubt my plan to walk to Alpe Plane, a long and tough walk.
