Today Madeira. Earlier this year, the Isle of Man, Bornholm. Long after my months of serious walking in the Alps. So different, in every aspect. But I want to walk. I will not give up.

This is Grongios Matre. I didn't even know the place existed, it is more cosy B&B than rifugio, but it is absolutely lovely. Cosy and welcoming and Leila and her husband are extremely nice. And the Dolcetto is fantastic. The descent, a very long one, wasn't very comfortable but ok. I went down 1600m today and climbed only 650m. I walked five and a half hours (without the time waiting for Alberto) and my highest point was Passo Gallarino at 2764m.
Fiona - My wife and I are thinking about hiking from Grongios Matre to Refugio Sella, with an 3 month old strapped to us! Do you think this is doable? And where did you find the map with the trail? Thanx for any help.. love your blog Casey alpharev@gmail.com
