Another helicopter. And a very important one. A heroic one. It helped save a cow that had fallen into the canyon you walk through when you go up to Soveltra from Prato Sornico. It is a miracle that the cow survived. And it was all very exciting. An alpine rescue squad arrived and worked almost two hours to save "Claudi" who had slipped and fell down steep grass and rocks and ended up in a pool in the river. It took two climbers, two pilots, a vet and the cow's owner to get her out of there. Claudi was put to sleep and transported to Soveltra by the helicopter. It was scary seeing her arrive, hanging by her feet from the rope. The pilots were really great, putting her on the ground very gently. Then the owner arrived and untied the knots. Claudi was a little confused and angry when she woke up, but recovered quickly. I am very impressed by the great job everyone did and very glad that Claudi was alive. Everyone was nonplussed that she had survived that fall unscathed. I still see her infront of me, in the air. A flying cow. Unfortunately I wasn't able to take photographs. There is a film, maybe I will be able to get the video and post it later.
