Tuesday 23 April 2013

Now it is already Tuesday again and I'm back at Huberspitz, waiting for some house guests, who have gone "into town" to watch football. Bayern München against Barcelona, only broadcasted over Sky. The weather is bad, rainy, dark and cool. So working comes easy. If there weren't these fluffy creatures making it almost impossible to work:

It was an unspectacular walk on broad dirt roads through woods and then - surprise - a small proper path up to the Auracher Köpfl, which (beware!) should be climbed only by intrepid experts!

The last bit actually includes what could be called a little scrambling. A pleasant surprise and quite a nice place. I couldn't believe my eyes when I met somebody up there. A local, who claims to have climbed the small peak more than 200 times without ever feeling bored.

Spring is keeping us waiting. There were two fine and really warm days and then winter seemed to back, there was even a little snow up here at Almbad Huberspitz on Saturday morning. Sunday was a day off and I decided to go for a longer walk. It wasn't cold, but not at all inviting outside. I started off in the fog on my way to "Auracher Köpfl". It is marked black, which should mean "difficult", well there in old people's country here, where "difficult" has an entirely different meaning.

On my way back up. This tree must look very pretty with leaves on it. The sun was shining an I was really hot walking back up. I'm not at all fit and had to stop a few times. It will be good training for me, walking to walk and back to my flat in Schliersee. It will take me at least two hours every day. That is good, I desperately need to get back in shape, generally and especially for my planned trek in Friuli in the summer.

Lake Schliersee. On my way back I sat on a bench in the sun for a while and studied the map I bought at the "Vital Welt", a big spa at the lake with sauna and the lot. Now I have a little more orientation about my whereabouts and the walking possibilites I have on the days I'm not working.

This is my new "home", or at least the place I will live in until the end of June. The house is called "Haus Seeblick" (it's written on the wall of the house, but you can't see it, I suppose because of the light conditions) and it is right next to the lake. My flat is right at the top, an attic flat. Helga helped me get it, the landlord is her cousin and a very friendly person. They will pick me and my two suitcases up on Thursday at the Huberspitz parking place in Hausham and take me there.

A view of the city Schliersee coming out of the woods (the lake is on the right, not in the picture). Spring has almost arrived here, the snow has gone.

Today was a day off. And I finally walked the path that leads directly from the Huberspitz doorstep to Schliersee. It wasn't an easy walk because there is still quite a lot of snow and ice in some spots. A little tricky because the path is quite steep, but very nice. And there was finally a bit of sunshine! It will be fun walking it in the sping and summer. It will be my way to work and back to my new transitory home in Schliersee, where I have rented a holiday home until I know how things will work out in the future.

My friends Baggy and Olaf came to spend Easter. On Sunday they walked up to Gindelalm with Birsch while I cooked Italian food for them, Peter, his family and some colleagues. At least we had a little time together on Saturday, a day off! We drove to Munich, my first time there. We went to the "Neue Pinakothek", tried to have tea in the incredibly busy centre (and finally succeeded in the "Tomasi"), walked around in the rain and climbed the tower of St. Peter for hazy views of the Bavarian capital.

Snow, snow, snow and hardly any sun. We didn't have many guests over Easter. I suppose they locked themselves in with loads of food, or took a plane to Mallorca or the like...

Happy Easter! Buona Pasqua! Frohe Ostern! I know it's a bit late, but I just didn't have any time yet. As you can see winter is keeping a firm grip on us here. And they say there's more snow to come! All this white is pretty, but we are all quite fed up by now.
